Brandi Carlile, born June 1, 1981, is an American alternative country and folk rock singer-songwriter. She gained recognition with her albums, including The Story, Give Up the Ghost, and Live at Benaroya Hall with the Seattle Symphony. Her music often features collaborations with notable artists and has charted on various Billboard lists.
Carlile's musical journey began at age eight, performing with her mother, and she started writing songs and playing guitar at fifteen. She dropped out of school to pursue music, eventually performing in Seattle clubs alongside twin brothers Tim and Phil Hanseroth. In 2005, she released her self-titled debut album under Columbia Records. Throughout her career, Carlile has toured with prominent acts and received multiple nominations and awards, including a GLAAD Media Award. She resides in the United States and is married.
