Lesley Gore
Biography
Lesley Sue Gore (née Goldstein; May 2, 1946 – February 16, 2015) was an American singer, songwriter, actress, and activist. She gained fame at the age of 16 with her hit single "It's My Party," produced by Quincy Jones, which topped the charts in 1963. Gore continued to achieve success with subsequent hits, including "Judy's Turn to Cry" and "You Don't Own Me." In addition to her music career, she acted and collaborated with her brother, Michael Gore, on songs for the 1980 film Fame, earning an Academy Award nomination for her work. Throughout the 2000s, Gore hosted the LGBT-oriented public television show In the Life. Her career spanned several decades, and she remained active in the entertainment industry until 2014.
