Biography
Candy Barr (July 6, 1935 – December 30, 2005) was an American stripper, burlesque dancer, actress, and model active during the mid-20th century. She gained prominence in the 1950s for her performances in Dallas, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas, as well as for her legal troubles, including a notable incident involving the shooting of her estranged second husband and subsequent prison time for drug possession. Her associations with figures such as Mickey Cohen and Jack Ruby further fueled public interest. After serving three years in prison, Barr relocated to South Texas, where she briefly returned to stripping in the late 1960s and appeared in Oui magazine in the 1970s before retiring from the entertainment industry. In the early 1980s, she was recognized by Texas Monthly as one of history's "perfect Texans," alongside notable figures like Lady Bird Johnson.
