Biography
Cormac McCarthy was an American writer known for his contributions to literature through twelve novels, two plays, five screenplays, and three short stories, primarily within the Western and post-apocalyptic genres. His works are characterized by graphic depictions of violence and a distinctive writing style marked by sparse punctuation and minimal attribution. McCarthy has received critical acclaim and is regarded as one of the greatest modern American writers. His notable works include "Blood Meridian," "The Road," and "No Country for Old Men." In addition to his literary career, McCarthy served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. His influence on contemporary literature continues to be significant, with many of his works adapted into films.
