David Hewlett

Biography

David Hewlett, born David Ian Hewlett on April 18, 1968, in Redhill, Surrey, England, is an accomplished actor and writer. He is best known for his roles in "The Shape of Water" (2017), "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" (2011), and the television series "Stargate: Atlantis" (2004-2009), where he portrayed Dr. Rodney McKay. Initially appearing as a guest star in "Stargate SG-1" (2001), he became a series lead in the spin-off "Stargate: Atlantis." Hewlett has collaborated with director Vincenzo Natali on multiple projects and previously operated an Internet media company with his sister. He has been married to Jane Loughman since June 21, 2008, and they have one child. Additionally, Hewlett is a fan of "Doctor Who" and has a dog named Mars, featured in his comedy film "A Dog's Breakfast" (2007). He became a U.S. citizen in 2009.
