Dimitar Berbatov
Biography
Dimitar Ivanov Berbatov is a Bulgarian former professional footballer, widely regarded as one of the greatest players in Bulgarian history. Born in Blagoevgrad, he began his career at Pirin before joining CSKA Sofia at the age of 17. In January 2001, he moved to Bayer Leverkusen, where he played in the 2002 UEFA Champions League Final. Berbatov transferred to Tottenham Hotspur in July 2006, and later joined Manchester United, where he won two Premier League titles and the Premier League Golden Boot in the 2010-11 season. After a stint with Fulham, he played in France with Monaco, Greece with PAOK, and India with Kerala Blasters, retiring in 2019. He captained the Bulgaria national team from 2006 to 2010, becoming the country's all-time leading goalscorer with 48 goals in 78 matches. Berbatov was named Bulgarian Footballer of the Year a record seven times.
