Biography

Dorian Leigh Parker is recognized as one of the first American supermodels, having achieved significant fame in the 1940s and 1950s. Born in the United States, she is the eldest of five daughters in a family from San Antonio, Texas. Dorian introduced her younger sister, Suzy Parker, to the modeling industry. The family relocated to Pomona Park, California, during Dorian's teenage years. She became the signature model for Revlon's Fire and Ice campaign, which helped establish her as a prominent cover girl. Dorian's career included work with esteemed photographers such as Louise Dahl-Wolfe, Irving Penn, and Richard Avedon. After leaving modeling in the 1960s, she opened one of the first modeling agencies in Paris and later attended Le Cordon Bleu culinary school, eventually opening a restaurant in France. Dorian also collaborated with Martha Stewart on recipes and cookbooks. She has a son named T.L. Hawkins.
