Biography

Eddie Cochran, born in Albert Lea, Minnesota, USA, was an influential American rock and roll artist known for his significant contributions to the genre in the late 1950s. He gained popularity through his appearances in rock and roll films, including "The Girl Can't Help It," and shared the stage with notable artists like Gene Vincent and Little Richard. Cochran is best remembered for hit singles such as "Summertime Blues," "Three Steps to Heaven," and "Twenty Flight Rock." His energetic, bass-driven sound has led some to regard him as a precursor to punk rock. He was engaged to songwriter Sharon Sheeley at the time of his death. Cochran tragically died in a car accident in Chippenham, Wiltshire, while touring Britain with Gene Vincent, who, along with Sheeley, survived the crash.
