Emmanuelle Riva was a French actress, born on 24 February 1927 and passing away on 27 January 2017. She gained prominence for her performances in influential films, particularly in Alain Resnais's Hiroshima mon amour (1959) and Michael Haneke's Amour (2012). Riva received critical acclaim for her role in Hiroshima mon amour, earning a BAFTA Award nomination. In 1962, she won the Best Actress award at the Venice Film Festival for her performance in Thérèse Desqueyroux. Her role in Amour garnered her a BAFTA Award and a César Award, along with an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.
