Biography
Fátima Moreira De Melo LL.M. was born on 4 July 1978 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, to Portuguese parents. She is a former Dutch field hockey player who played as a striker, representing the Netherlands in 191 international matches and scoring 30 goals. Her debut was on 21 October 1997 against Germany. Moreira De Melo was a key member of the Dutch national team that won the World Championship at the 2006 Women's Hockey World Cup and the 2007 Champions Trophy. She also secured an Olympic gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, where the team defeated China in the final. In addition to her sports career, she holds a Master's Degree in Law obtained in 2006 and has worked as a television presenter and singer. Moreira De Melo became Rotterdam Sportswoman of the Year in December 2006 and has appeared in Rabobank advertisements.
