Joy Harmon
Biography
Joy Harmon is an American actress known for her work in theater and television during the mid-20th century. She made her stage debut in Pajama Tops at the Klein Memorial Theatre in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and toured the United States with various stock company productions, including The Marriage-Go-Round and The Importance of Being Earnest. On Broadway, she played Betty Phillips in Make a Million (1958) and appeared in an off-Broadway production of Susan Slept Here (1961). Harmon was a contestant on the final season of Groucho Marx's You Bet Your Life and later starred in his short-lived show Tell It to Groucho. She had guest roles on several 1960s television series, including Gidget and Batman, and appeared in the film Under the Yum Yum Tree (1963) and the soap opera Never Too Young (1965–66). Her notable film roles include Merrie in Village of the Giants (1965) and Lucille in Cool Hand Luke (1967).
