Biography

Kanon Wakeshima (分島 花音) is a Japanese singer and cellist born on June 28, 1988. She debuted under DefSTAR Records on May 28, 2008, with the single "Still Doll," which served as the ending theme for the anime series Vampire Knight. Wakeshima also contributed her voice to a character in the series. Her second single, "Suna no Oshiro," was released on November 12, 2008, and was featured in the second season of Vampire Knight.

Wakeshima began playing the cello at the age of three and formed her own ensemble in junior high school. She started writing her own music and combining singing with her cello at sixteen. After auditioning at Sony Music Entertainment, she became a finalist and signed with DefSTAR Records. Wakeshima was nominated for a Best Newcomer award in the 2008 Shojo Beat Music Awards.
