Lacrimosa
Biography
Lacrimosa is a gothic music duo formed in Switzerland, consisting of German composer Tilo Wolff and Finnish vocalist Anne Nurmi. Initially associated with the Neue Deutsche Todeskunst genre, their musical style has evolved towards a blend of gothic rock and heavy metal, incorporating classical instruments such as violin and trumpet. Their lyrics, primarily in German, explore themes of loneliness, sadness, darkness, despair, and love. Since the release of their 1995 album "Inferno," Lacrimosa has included English-language songs on each subsequent album, with some Finnish lyrics featured in specific tracks. The duo has achieved significant commercial success, selling over 20,000 copies of each album in Germany, and has developed a substantial fanbase in countries including Mexico and China.
