Biography
Neneh Mariann Karlsson, known professionally as Neneh Cherry, was born on 10 March 1964 in Sweden. She is a multifaceted artist recognized as a singer, songwriter, rapper, occasional disc jockey, and broadcaster. Cherry began her musical career in London during the early 1980s, performing with various punk and post-punk bands, including the Slits and Rip Rig + Panic. Her debut album, Raw Like Sushi, released in 1989, achieved significant success, featuring the hit single "Buffalo Stance." Over her career, Cherry has released six studio albums, with notable works including Homebrew (1992), Man (1996), and Blank Project (2014). Her most recent album, The Versions, was released in 2022. Cherry has received several accolades, including two Brit Awards and an MTV Europe Music Award. She has also collaborated with various artists and formed the band cirKus in 2006.
