Biography

Samantha Louise Taylor-Johnson OBE (née Taylor-Wood; born March 4, 1967) is a British filmmaker known for her work in both fine art and cinema. She gained recognition with her directorial debut, "Nowhere Boy" (2009), a biopic about John Lennon’s early life. Taylor-Johnson is part of the Young British Artists movement and has exhibited her fine-art photography since the early 1990s. Her notable works include the "Crying Men" series and the 2014 exhibition "Second Floor," showcasing Coco Chanel's private apartment. In addition to her film work, she directed the adaptation of E.L. James' "Fifty Shades of Grey" (2015) and is set to direct the biopic "Back to Black," focusing on Amy Winehouse. Taylor-Johnson has received various accolades, including an OBE for services to the arts. She has been married twice and has four daughters.
