Steven Moffat
Biography
Steven Moffat is a Scottish television writer and producer known for his influential work in the television industry. He began his career with the teen drama series Press Gang and later created the sitcom Joking Apart, which was inspired by his personal experiences. Moffat's sitcom Coupling, developed during his relationship with television producer Sue Vertue, gained significant popularity. He also wrote Chalk, a sitcom set in a comprehensive school, drawing from his background as an English teacher.
A lifelong fan of Doctor Who, Moffat contributed several episodes to the series before becoming the lead writer and executive producer for its fifth series in 2009, succeeding Russell T Davies. He co-wrote The Adventures of Tintin for director Steven Spielberg and co-created the acclaimed series Sherlock, based on the Sherlock Holmes stories. Moffat's work has garnered numerous awards, including BAFTAs and Hugo Awards, and he received the BAFTA Special Award in 2012.
