Biography

James Timothy Daly, born on March 1, 1956, is an American actor renowned for his diverse roles in television and film. He gained prominence as Joe Hackett on the NBC sitcom Wings and portrayed J.T. Dolan, a drug-addicted screenwriter, on the acclaimed series The Sopranos. From 2007 to 2012, he starred as Pete Wilder in the ABC medical drama Private Practice. Additionally, Daly lent his voice to Clark Kent/Superman in Superman: The Animated Series and its related films. Between 2014 and 2019, he played Henry McCord, the husband of the Secretary of State, on the CBS political drama Madam Secretary. Daly was married to actress Amy Van Nostrand from 1982 until their divorce in 2010, and they have two children. He began a relationship with his Madam Secretary co-star Téa Leoni in December 2014, and they married on July 12, 2025, in New York.
