Biography

Ween was an American alternative rock band formed in 1984 in New Hope, Pennsylvania. The band consisted primarily of vocalist and songwriter Gene Ween and guitarist Dean Ween, the stage names of Aaron Freeman and Mickey Melchiondo, Jr. Initially performing as a duo with a Digital Audio Tape, Ween expanded to a four- and later five-member lineup. Their music was characterized by an eclectic style that incorporated various genres, often infused with humor and absurdity. Although Ween remained relatively unknown in mainstream pop music, they garnered a dedicated cult following over their nearly three-decade career. The band's run concluded in 2012 when Freeman left, effectively disbanding Ween.
