Biography

Clotilde Courau, born on 3 April 1969 in Levallois-Perret, France, is a French actress and the wife of Prince Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy, a descendant of the last King of Italy. She is the daughter of Jean-Claude Courau and Catherine du Pontavice des Renardières and has three sisters. Courau gained recognition for her acting, receiving a César nomination for Most Promising Actress in 1991 for her role in "Le petit criminel" and winning the European Film Award for Best Actress. She has also been honored with the Prix Romy Schneider and was named a Dame of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. Courau married Emanuele Filiberto on 25 September 2003, becoming Princess Clotilde of Savoy. The couple has two daughters, Princess Vittoria and Princess Luisa, and adopted two sons from Kenya in 2011. She participates in royal events but has no official royal duties.
