Biography
Constance Bennett was an American actress known for her contributions to the film industry during the early to mid-20th century. She began her career in silent films in New York before moving to Hollywood after meeting producer Samuel Goldwyn, making her debut in Cytherea (1924). After a brief hiatus for marriage, she returned to acting with the advent of sound films, quickly gaining popularity for her glamorous style and delicate features. In 1931, Bennett signed a lucrative contract with Metro Goldwyn Mayer, earning significant acclaim for her role in What Price Hollywood? (1932). Throughout her career, she showcased her versatility in films such as Topper (1937) and Merrily We Live (1938). In the 1940s, while her film appearances decreased, she found success in radio and theatre. Bennett also established a cosmetics and clothing company, securing her financial independence.
