Eddie Albert
Biography
Eddie Albert was an American actor and former circus performer known for his diverse career spanning several decades. Before World War II, he toured Mexico as a clown and high-wire artist with the Escalante Brothers Circus, while also working secretly for U.S. Army intelligence, where he photographed German U-boats in Mexican harbors. In 1942, Albert enlisted in the Coast Guard and was later appointed as a lieutenant in the Navy, where he served until 1943. He was awarded the Bronze Star with Combat "V" for his courageous actions during the invasion of Tarawa in November 1943, where he piloted a landing craft and rescued 47 Marines under heavy enemy fire. Albert's contributions to both the entertainment industry and military service reflect a multifaceted life dedicated to performance and patriotism.
