Eileen Brennan, born on September 3, 1932, in Los Angeles, California, is an American actress renowned for her work in film, television, and theater. She gained prominence for her role as Doreen Lewis in the film Private Benjamin, earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Brennan reprised this role in the television adaptation, winning both a Golden Globe Award and an Emmy Award. Her career includes notable performances in The Sting, The Last Picture Show, and the Broadway production of Hello, Dolly! She appeared in various television series, receiving Emmy nominations for her roles in Newhart, Thirtysomething, and Will & Grace. Brennan faced personal challenges, including a severe car accident in 1982, which led to a lengthy recovery. She is a breast cancer survivor and has two sons from her marriage to David John Lampson.
