Junji Ito (伊藤 潤二 Itō Junji?, born July 31, 1963) is a prominent Japanese horror manga artist known for his unique storytelling and art style. His notable works include "Tomie," which follows an immortal girl who drives her admirers to madness, and "Uzumaki," a three-volume series centered on a town obsessed with spirals. Another significant work, "Gyo," tells the story of fish controlled by a strain of sentient bacteria known as "the death stench." Ito has also created the "Itou Junji Kyoufu Manga Collection," featuring various short stories, and "Itou Junji No Neko Nikki: Yon and Mu," a lighter narrative about moving to a new home with unexpected companions. His contributions have made a lasting impact on the horror genre in manga, earning him a dedicated following both in Japan and internationally.
