Biography

Marie Skłodowska-Curie was a Polish and naturalized-French physicist and chemist known for her groundbreaking research on radioactivity. Born in Poland, she later moved to France, where she conducted much of her work. Curie was the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and remains the only individual to have received Nobel Prizes in two different scientific fields: Physics and Chemistry. She also became the first female professor at the University of Paris. Her contributions to science were widely recognized, and in 1995, she was the first woman to be entombed on her own merits in the Panthéon in Paris. Curie's legacy continues to influence the fields of physics and chemistry, and she is celebrated for her pioneering role in advancing women's participation in science.
