Marion Eleanor Zimmer Bradley (June 3, 1930 – September 25, 1999) was an American author known for her contributions to fantasy, historical fantasy, science fiction, and science fantasy literature. She gained prominence with her novel The Mists of Avalon, which presents a feminist retelling of the Arthurian legend. Additionally, she is recognized for her Darkover series, set on a fictional planet. Bradley's writing often explored themes of gender and power. However, her legacy has been complicated by serious allegations of child sexual abuse and rape made against her by her children, Mark and Moira Greyland, as well as others. Despite these controversies, her works continue to influence the genres she wrote in and remain significant in discussions of feminist literature.
