Biography

Michelle Ray Smith, born on September 24, 1974, is an American soap opera actress and model. Raised in suburban Michigan, she attended East Hills Middle School and Lahser High School in Bloomfield Hills before graduating in 1992. Initially training as a hairdresser and makeup artist, Smith was discovered and moved to New York City to pursue a modeling career, featuring in the Victoria's Secret catalog and numerous national commercials. In August 2005, she joined the cast of the daytime soap opera Guiding Light as Ava Peralta, a role she left in July 2008 following the birth of her son, Jake. Smith appeared in the 2010 film Salt alongside Angelina Jolie and starred in the independent film Inkubus. An outdoor enthusiast, she enjoys camping, fishing, and jogging, and is actively involved with animal welfare organizations, including the Humane Society. She currently resides in Brooklyn, New York.
