Beverly Garland
Biography
Beverly Garland was an American actress born in Santa Cruz, California. She studied dramatics under Anita Arliss and began her career in local theater before transitioning to radio and film. Garland made her feature film debut in a supporting role in D.O.A. (1949) and gained recognition for her television work, notably as the first policewoman in the series Decoy (1957), which marked a significant milestone as she became the first actress to star in a television dramatic series. Throughout her career, she appeared on various game shows and had recurring roles on 7th Heaven and Port Charles. In 1983, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and in 2001, she was inducted into the Pacific Pioneer Broadcasters Hall of Fame. Garland operated the Beverly Garland Holiday Inn in North Hollywood until her passing on December 5, 2008, at the age of 82.
