Biography

Marguerite Chapman (March 9, 1918 — August 31, 1999) was an American actress known for her work in film and television. Born in Chatham, New York, she initially worked as a telephone switchboard operator before transitioning to modeling with the John Robert Powers Agency in New York City. This led to her film debut in 1940 and a significant role in the 1942 adventure serial Spy Smasher, which garnered her critical acclaim. Throughout her career, Chapman appeared alongside notable actors such as Edward G. Robinson and George Sanders, and she contributed to wartime efforts by entertaining troops and participating in the War bond drive. In the 1950s, she featured in secondary roles, including a part in Marilyn Monroe's The Seven Year Itch, and later made guest appearances on various television shows. Chapman has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her contributions to the film industry. She passed away in 1999 at the age of 81.
