Biography

Mario Moreno Reyes, widely known as Cantinflas, was a renowned Mexican actor, comedian, and circus performer. He gained fame in the 1940s with the film Ahí está el detalle, which introduced his iconic catchphrase. Over his career, Cantinflas starred in more than 50 films, becoming a beloved figure in Latin America and Spain. His unique comedic style, characterized by playful language and misunderstandings, led to the term "cantinflear," now included in the Real Academia Española's dictionary. In the 1950s, he ventured into Hollywood, appearing in notable films such as Around the World in Eighty Days and Pepe. Cantinflas also served as President of the Mexican actors' union and was involved in real estate and bullfighting. He received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was honored with a minute of silence by the US Senate upon his death in 1993.
